Fruits you've been taking wrongly (part 2)

Sometime ago we considered one fruit we've been taking wrongly, which was watermelon. But this part we'll be considering that commonest fruit of all time.... Orange! Yes orange..

Hold up, don't hiss yet, I bet you don't know this....
Orange is the commonest fruit in the world (especially in Nigeria) that even the poorest man's pocket can reach... Cheap as it is, yet is the only fruits that has a great percentage of vitamin C which we all know what that does in our body.
"Orange strengthens your emotional body, encouraging a general feeling of joy, well-being, and cheerfulness." Tae Yun Kim
Who doesn’t love a delicious and juicy orange? They are popular with athletes because they can be easily eaten for a burst of energy. I enjoy eating one or two oranges most of the time of the year for that same energy-boosting effect.
These are what you don't know about Orange...
*Oranges are rich in citrus limonoids, proven to help fight a number of varieties of cancer including that of the skin, lung, breast, stomach and colon.
*Drinking orange juice regularly prevents kidney diseases and reduces the risk of kidney stones.
*According to two studies in Japan eating mandarin oranges reduces liver cancer. This may be due in part to vitamin A compounds known as carotenoids.
*Since they’re full of soluble fiber, oranges are helpful in lowering cholesterol.
*Oranges are full of potassium, an electrolyte mineral is responsible for helping the heart function well. When potassium levels get too low, you may develop an abnormal heart rhythm, known as an arrhythmia.
*Oranges are full of vitamin C which protects cells by neutralizing free radicals. Free radicals cause chronic diseases, like cancer and heart disease.
*Studies show that the abundance of polyphenols in oranges protects against viral infections.
*Oranges are full of dietary fiber which stimulates digestive juices and relieves constipation.
*Oranges are rich in carotenoid compounds which are converted to vitamin A and help prevent macular degeneration.
*The flavonoid hesperidin found in oranges helps regulate high blood pressure and the magnesium in oranges helps maintain blood pressure.
*Oranges are full of beta-carotene is a powerful antioxidant protecting the cells from being damage which also protects the skin from free radicals and prevents the signs of aging.
*Although oranges are acidic before you digest them, they contain many alkaline minerals that help to balance out the body after they are digested. In this respect, they are similar to lemons which are one of the most alkaline foods available.
*Oranges like all fruits have simple sugars in them, but the orange has a glycemic index of 40.  Anything under 55 is considered low. This means as long as you don’t eat a lot of oranges at one time, they won’t spike your blood sugar and cause problems with insulin or weight gain.
Now here is the deal...
The question is...
Orange peels: edible or poisonous?
Even though orange is the commonest fruit in Nigeria, yet it baffles me the way some people abuses this fruit... All in the name of big boy and big girl... Jenifa... You are wasting you're money when you're not fully utilising the fruits which you use your hard-earned money to get... Some People after sucking out the juicy part of the Orange, they throw the rest away.

Now read this...
Orange peels are not poisonous and, as many cooks know, orange zest can pack a big flavor punch. While orange peels are edible, they are not nearly as sweet or juicy as the pulp.
If you do eat the peel, you'll get a good amount of nutrients. Orange peel actually has more fiber then the fruit inside contains.  It also has flavonoids in it that contain nutritious benefits." Flavonoids are compounds found in many foods. They are known to have antihypertensive and anti-inflammatory effects, which relieve pressures on the heart.
Additionally, orange peels contain vitamins A, C, B6 and B5; calcium; riboflavin; thiamin; niacin; and folate. One way to get some of the nutrients is by eating the inner part of the peel and leaving the tough outer part. "The pith of the orange — the white part between the skin and fruit — can be sour or bitter but actually contains just as much vitamin C as the fruit itself, with a good deal of fiber.

Hence, the best way to have your Orange is not to razor off the back and suck the Juice alone. Get your Orange fresh, wash it off thoroughly, get a knife and divide your Orange into four dimensional parts and eat it all up.
you may leave out the hard outer part, but if they've peeled the back then, it's healthy to eat all the parts of the oranges up.
So guess from now, you will stop forming big boys and big girls and start taking those oranges right... Chew it all and enjoy your health!
