Parents and students of Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, have decried the increase in the school fees for the 2015/2016 academic session by the authorities, describing the new fee regime as outrageous and unjustifiable.
Depending on courses, the new fees is between 25 to 100 per cent higher than the old fees, a development they rejected because the management of the university had in July released the fees payable by each student, with only an increase of N60, 000 meant for  defined educational tablet fee for all the students.
According to the new fee released on Monday, Law students, who were earlier asked to pay N800, 000 per session, are now to pay N1.5 million as a full session fee, while the medical students are to pay N3.1 million, instead of the N2 million earlier stipulated.
Some of the parents, who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune over the development, said they could not understand why the university authorities upped the fees after they had already paid the fees released in July.
A parent, Mrs Sarah Martins said: “This is suicidal. I cannot understand any reason for this. The school is very inconsiderate. We have not done anything bad by sending our children to the school. It would even have been better to increase the fees gradually but to increase it by that much all of a sudden in the face of the economic hardship in the country is killing. It is because they think all of us have the money to pay it.”
A 400 Level student of Economics Department, who did not want her name in print, described the hike in fees as insensitivity on the part of the school’s management, adding, “I am in my final year and I just saw that I am paying the most expensive fees since I entered the school in 2012. Never have I had to pay this much. I don’t even know how to tell my parents.”.... (weren't  they the ones that sent you to the school?)
I just believe that you will be whatever you are meant to be in life be you a product of federal or state university or private university... It is well. ..
