What you don't know about Daniel Amokachi

The name Daniel Amokachi popularly known as THE BULL,  is surely a name that can never be forgotten on the lips of Nigerians in respect to Football both nationally and internationally. He could be remembered vividly well when he was first discovered while playing for Ranchers Bee by Clemens Westerhof  who brought the talented you man to 1990 African Nations cup where he later moved to Club brugge. 

This is what you really don't know about Daniel Amokachi and Champions league.

 Daniel Amokachi was the first to score in the champions league history , the 1000th goal was by Dmitri Khokhlov (PSV Eindhoven),  the 2000th goal was by Erwin Sanchez (Boavista),  the 3000th goal was by David Trezeguet (Juventus),  the 4000th goal was by Peter Crouch (Liverpool), the 5000th goal was by Luisao (Benfica) , the 6000th goal was by Mario Gotze (Borussia Dortmund), while  few days ago, the record of the 7000th goal was made by that Argentine; Angel Di Maria of Paris Saint German! 

The first edition of the Champions League, eventually won by Marseille, featured only eight teams and Nigerian striker Amokachi won the race to score the competition's first goal with his 17th-minute strike against CSKA Moscow. On 25th of November, 1992

Perhaps knowing his place in history was secure, Amokachi did not score again in 10 further Champions League appearances for Club Brugge and Besiktas.

Yet he had an eventful spell at Everton in between, scoring two goals in the 1995 FA Cup semi-final against Spurs after coming on as a substitute before manager Joe Royle gave the go-ahead. The Toffees went on to beat Manchester United in the final.

So good to know our very own is on Hall of fame of champions league which can never be written off!
